Interests and Community Involvement

Dr. Stoddard began his anesthesia career in the military serving three years in West Germany at Landstuhl Army Regional Hospital. During the last 5 months of his overseas tour, he deployed with Desert Shield and Desert Storm with the 12th Evacuation Hospital, 7th Corps as Chief of Anesthesia and Operative Services. During the hostilities, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service. Dr. Stoddard moved to Fairbanks with his wife, Priscilla, and their two children in 1991 to complete his military service at Bassett Army Community Hospital. After his honorable discharge from the military, he began practicing anesthesia at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital in 1994. His work philosophy is simple: "take care of our patients first, your teammates second and yourself last, and everything will fall into place nicely".

His interests center around his wife and children, fishing, hunting, cabin building, rafting on Alaskan rivers, dog-powered sports and skiing. Favorite Alaskan places include the Brooks Range, the Upper Black Rapids Glacier, the Tatshenshini-Alsek Rivers, the Upper Chitna-Copper rivers, the Kuskokwim basin, and the White mountains. Community involvement is varied but has consisted of significant financial support toward the Cancer Center at FMH, various youth athletics, lectures and donations to our public schools, and District Science Fair, as well as support for children in Africa. He plans to stay in Alaska with his wife Priscilla forever.
